Getting To Know Me

My journey started in Tallahassee Florida where I grew up and found an interest in playing the trumpet.  I began my formal instruction at Cobb Middle School with Mr. Bill Miller. The journey continued at FAMU DRS High School with Dr. Arnett Moore and with Mr. Chris Ball at Leon High School.

I had the opportunity and pleasure to continue my musical journey at Florida A&M University. I received a B.A. in Music Education. While matriculating at FAMU, I was able to develop my horn skills by performing with the Great Lindsay Sargent, Marty Robinson, Scotty Barnhart(Count Bassie Orchestra). I also was able to perform locally with the Tallahassee Swing Band with Elliot Toole.

Last but not least, I marched in the World famous MARCHING 100, Symphonic Band and performed in the Jazz Band.

In the world of music studio production, I’ve worked with Darryl Jones, Tony Schockency who produced Micheal Cooper in the 90’s(My Baby’s House) #7 on the R&B charts. I also worked with Maurice Starr who produced New Edition and New Kids On The Block.

Some of my major influences have been artist such as Babyface, John Coltrane, Roy Hargrove, and my dad Spurgeon McWilliams, Sr. who I collaborate with for writing songs.

Currently, I’m working with Marty McQueen (MADPO ENTERTAINMENT) and Quinton McQueen (New Millennium Entertainment) releasing my first single “Every Time I Look At You”; now available here on spurgeonmac.com.
